Children of the Sea

I walked with these two young Vezo girls out to the shore to spend the day fishing. They cast their nets wide and worked quickly, knowing they had hungry families to feed. Then one of the girls suddenly paused and gazed directly into my lens, her solemn face framed by a light dusting of salt as she stared at the camera, her eyes radiating an unrivaled confidence.
