Most of the sea turtles I encounter keep their distance from divers and I’m happy to respect their space. But this intrepid little voyager faced me head-on as if to remind me of my place as a guest below the surface. He lifted his defiant little snout to my camera and didn’t seem to mind my company as we glided along in the warm shallows. I was charmed by his bold spirit and made this image as a tribute to the incredible resilience of his home in the Bahamas. Working in the archipelago with such a vibrant community of tireless advocates gave me the strength to take on our ocean’s greatest challenges with unguarded hope for the future.
